Turning your house into the place where you feel at home means that you want to see your style reflected in every detail. In the last few years, garage door manufacturers have been adding many new styles to their catalogues so that you can make the first entrance you see to your home exactly what you want. One of the leaders in this is Garaga, a company that now has 24 different models, with 7 of them in the contemporary or modern category.

What is a contemporary housing style?

If you aren’t sure what your style is, we can help. Contemporary or modern housing styles are characterized by clean, straight lines with roofs that are often flat or have four equal slopes. They often used darker colors on the outside, and frequently mix materials like siding with stone or wood. Another distinguishing feature is large openings both for windows and patio doors. If this describes a house that you would love to live in, then you likely appreciate contemporary or modern styles.

When talking about contemporary architecture, you’ll often hear the name of Frank Lloyd Wright, the renowned architect, mentioned. His Usonian design was the inspiration for the "ranch" style popularized in the 1950s which continues to be the blueprint for most modern houses today.

What contemporary styles does Garaga offer for your garage?

When you want to mimic those clean, straight lines on your garage door, there are many things to consider. Lines on a garage door appear both horizontal and vertical, a fact which characterizes modern or contemporary homes. Garaga has garage doors that mirror those traits, and more. Here are the doors that you could choose from:

  • The Vog: A sleek and understated style with a deep, v‑shaped, horizontal groove, 40" x 1 ¼" (102 x 3 cm) long on each section.
  • The Moderno: This model comes in two configurations: the 2‑Bead with each section having a thin, continuous line at the top and bottom, and the Multi, with equally spaced lines every 4 or so inches.
  • The Grooved: in the same vein, this model has a continuous horizontal line, this time 1"‑high (25 mm) over the full width of the door. The number of grooves may be either 4 or 5 depending on the height of the door sections.
  • The Flush: The Flush has no embossed lines or grooves, and is a light wood grain finish to give the impression of a wooden door from the 1950s, which appears very sleek.

Add windows for an even more modern touch!

One of the most common features of contemporary-style houses are large windows to let lots of natural light inside. Garaga offers you large windows, such as 40" x 13" (102 x 32 cm) that can be positioned differently on the garage door sections to your heart’s content.

Look through the wide choice of windows and we’re sure you’ll find love at first sight! From clear glass to printed designs, to stunning stained glass and frosted glass, the options include everything from satin windows, textured windows or windows with horizontal lines.
